Editing Saved Ingredients

The application saves your ingredients and source ingredients when you save a label. The new version allows you to access your saved ingredients and edit or delete them.

There are two ways to access the list:

  • Using the My Ingredients button at the bottom of the Blends/Other Ingredients tab
  • When choosing a value for an ingredient or source ingredient

Pressing the button will open a popup window with all your saved ingredients. To toggle between ingredients and source ingredient (for daily value items) use the radio group below the search box. The list can be sorted by clicking the column header. Automatically added items (created when you saved) may have an all-zero date.

You can edit the text then choose update, or delete the ingredient entirely. NOTE: if you have entered an ingredient for a blend and for a dietary ingredient, you may see a duplicate entry.

The second method is to edit on-the-fly while adding an ingredient. Here the example is for a Daily Value source ingredient, but it works the same way for blend, other ingredients etc.

When searching for matching ingredients, you may see a button [EDIT SAVED MATCHES] appear above the list. Pressing that button will lead to a similar popup page

Correct the value and press [UPDATE]. You can choose an ingredient directly from this screen. Sometimes it is hard to remove special characters that can sneak in when you cut and paste text from another source, and it may be better to delete that ingredient.

Corrections and Cleanup

You can find corrupted entries using the Search function. It’s usually best to cut and paste the special or other strange characters that you may find, e.g. Â, into the search box to find all occurrences at once. You can then correct and update each entry. If your change results in a duplicate entry, you’ll get an error message. In that case it’s best to delete the ingredient as duplicate entries are only allowed when the ingredient type is different, e.g. for a blend or dietary ingredient.

You can make these kinds of edits on the fly when adding ingredient to a label by choosing EDIT SAVED MATCHES — that way you’ll fix it right when you find it!

To find one or more backslashes, you will need to enter two of them, e.g. \\ into the search box. Corruption can also occur along with copyright © or registered trademark ® signs.
