You can use the simplified Nutrition Facts format if 8 or more of the following are present in insignificant amounts:
- Calories
- Total fat
- Saturated fat
- Trans fat
- Cholesterol
- Sodium
- Total carbohydrate
- Dietary fiber
- Total sugars
- Added sugars
- Protein
- Vitamin D
- Calcium
- Iron
- Potassium.
If the simplified format is available, you will see a message informing you of how many ingredients you have with insignificant (or zero) amounts.
“Uncheck the items that are not present. You currently have 8 unchecked.”
The application will add an appropriate footnote depending on your selections. See 21 CFR 101.9(f) for more information about when the simplified format may be used on a food label.
